When we plan a trip, we go deep. Multiple sources, real reviews, forum threads from three years ago that somehow have the most useful tip. We cross-reference. We make a a Notion doc about it. We probably overthink it.

But after years of doing this, we started noticing the same problem: so much of what’s online is either vague, outdated or sponsored without disclosure.

We started The Corporate Escapers because we wanted to be that source for other people. Everything we write about, we’ve experienced ourselves first hand and is an honest account of what we found.

We’re not flying business class (one day maybe). We’re also not 16-bed dorm hostels – though a private room in a well-located hostel has made sense more than once, especially in cities where hotels are genuinely expensive. We’re somewhere in the middle – and we think most people are too.

We’ll happily eat souvlaki standing up for lunch if it means we can splurge on a dinner that’s genuinely worth it. We’ll take the local bus from the ferry port if it saves us €20 and gives us a more interesting 30 minutes. We’ll walk an extra kilometre to avoid the tourist-facing restaurant on the main strip.

What we care about: places that feel real. Restaurants where the locals actually eat. Hotels that are well-located and comfortable without being performative about it. We’re not anti-Instagram – some hyped places are hyped for good reason. But we’ll always tell you which ones aren’t worth it.

We write for people like us. Full-time professionals who take their annual leave seriously. Couples who want to travel well, not just travel. People who do the research — or wish someone had done it for them.

We’re building a community of people who think about travel the way we do. Detail-oriented, honest about what’s good and what isn’t, and trying to get the absolute most out of the limited time they have away from the desk.

Everything on this site is based on our own experiences and research. When we recommend something, it’s because we genuinely think it’s worth your time and money.

We’re not perfect travellers and we don’t pretend to be. But we are honest ones.
